Windows 11 22H2 launched by making games worse, twice
22H2 caused Nvidia stuttering at launch and further game slowdowns in November
The market's verdict: -2.9% on MSFT in the week after.
What actually happened
The Windows 11 2022 Update arrived September 20 and immediately stuttered and dropped frame rates on Nvidia GPUs, an interaction between the update and the GeForce Experience overlay that Nvidia had to fix with a driver release four days later, with a full Game Ready driver on September 27. Then in November a separate 22H2 bug made some games and apps slower because Windows had inadvertently enabled GPU performance debugging features on consumer machines, and Microsoft blocked upgrades while fixing it. Two gaming regressions in two months from an update marketed to gamers. The scoreboard was not fooled twice.
This one is officially acknowledged.

Update the Nvidia driver past the 22H2 stutter bug
Install Nvidia's Game Ready driver from September 27, 2022 or newer (the 22H2 stutter fix), and make sure KB5020044 or later is installed for the November performance debugging bug. Disabling the GeForce Experience overlay also helped in the meantime.
