The $30 lifeboat shipped with a hole in it
Windows 10 ESU enrollment failures hit right after end of support
The market's verdict: -2.1% on MSFT in the week after.
What actually happened
Days after Windows 10 support ended, PCs that had paid for or claimed the Extended Security Update started wrongly announcing they were out of support anyway, and the enrollment wizard itself failed with "we can't enroll you right now". The first ESU-only cumulative update then failed to install with 0x800f0922 errors. It took a server-side rollback, an out-of-band update on November 11 and a servicing stack fix on November 18 to make the paid safety net actually catch anyone. The product was keeping an old OS secure; the beta test was on the customers who bought it.
This one is officially acknowledged.
