Day-one Call of Duty leaves the subscription sold on day-one games
New Call of Duty games leave Game Pass at launch from 2026
The market's verdict: +1.6% on MSFT in the week after.
What actually happened
On April 21, 2026, Microsoft announced that new Call of Duty titles would no longer be on Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass at launch, joining "during the following holiday season", meaning about a year later. The announcement was bundled with price cuts on both tiers, a package that reads as pay less, get less, which is at least symmetrical after a year of pay more, get less. The one franchise that justified the 69 billion dollar acquisition and three price hikes is now a year-late arrival on the service those hikes were funding.
This one is officially acknowledged.
They did it more than once
You paid more for day-one games. Then day-one left.
